I've never had a Jersey Giant before so I don't know what the chicks are suppose to look like as they grow. All I know about them is that they are suppose to grow slowly. Ok, so we got this baby yesterday, and she's suppose to be about 7 weeks old. She's beautiful and sweet, and my 9 year old absolutely loves her. The lady we got her from said they told her it was a Jersey Giant but she was skeptical since the bird began to grow long tail feathers. She suspects it could also be either an Australorp or a Sumatra. Any ideas? This baby has white feathers on her wings too. I thought Jersey Giants were solid black? Any help you can offer would be great. Thanks!

Here she is:

Any ideas on what she is? Thanks!

Ya that could be a sumatra or a black minorca, I have minorcas the same age and thats what they look like:D. Beautiful, but be prepared, if its not production type Minorca it will be the biggest chicken you've ever seen! Don't worry about the white she will moult it out. Hope I was a help:lol:
