No there is nothing you can do. Some eggs just have a really thick membrane. And some chicks are just not that strong. I have had chicks hatch with thick membrane and others die. There is nothing you can do. It really is a crap shoot.

And if anyone tries to bash you, ignore them. You didn't do anything wrong.

No it comes from the egg production in the hen. Some are thick and some are not. I am a smei-experienced hatcher, and when I think it may be thick (when I can see it from a pip) I will help. But that kind of thickness you just don't know because they don't externally pip.

thats the thing tho, im starting to think it was something i did wrong because it was not just one egg, there was in total ten eggs that were like that.. and i know for sure they were dead before i messed with them, there were on day 27

Ok. To start with, waiting that long is too long. i am going to say this, wanting you to know that this is a leaning experience for you, OK? I am not getting on your case.

When you reach day 22, and you candle and see movement, it is time to intervene. That being said, I have about a 50/50 success rate with intervening. Day 27 is way too long to wait.

When intervening, if you see ANY sign at all of blood, STOP and put it back. Personally, I have never had a sign of blood on day 22 with movement in the egg. It usually (in my case) caused by lack of humidity or a thick membrane.

I hope your next hatch is WORRY FREE!!!
