Is This Something That Can Be Corrected or Does It Need To Be Culled?

The pics are not very revealing but the right leg is turned outward. She doesn't use it to move around but she can kick it when you start messing with her. She just hatched today about 6AM & is still not up walking or even getting on it. She just lays on her good leg & flops where eever she goes.

I wonder if the bandaid splint would work. Is it splay leg?

I have a tiny button quail kind of like yours. She flops all over the place, and is only half the size of her siblings. I feel so bad for her, but she doesn't seem to be hurting. I hope someone has ideas on this.

I don't know. I don't have experience with this. It looks worse then the pics show.

Edit: If I pull both legs together they look the same but otherwise it looks like it grows from the side of the leg at the joint.

I understand, then she/he must be like mine then. These poor little button quails have such thin and tiny legs, and it worries me.

I have a 3 week old chick right now with this problem. I didn't splint it because doing so caused her more discomfort than leaving it alone. She gets around just fine, eats, drinks etc but she will always be a special needs chicken. I have another one just like her so I was willing to take her on. It requires a lot of work, but it can be done. Sorry, wish I could be more help.

If it were me I'd cull it and spend my time with the healthy ones.
