Is this something to be concerned about?

So Rio has been doing this thing where every so often when she walks she jerks her head to the side and down. She used to walk like the other ducks with her head mostly straight up and just turn her head from side to side

is this something to be concerned about? Or something relatively normal. She seems fine otherwise. Eating well getting plenty of water. Just as active as the other ducks. And it’s not all the time. I thought it was her looking for worms at first but it’s happening more frequently. And usually while walking around

Completely normal duck communication. My ducks do that when they are telling off one of the other ducks. Mine usually do it over resources like mates or water. I interpret it, with my ducks, to mean, "that's mine!"

Edit: I only have females.

With the birds around here, I notice the females do it to other females as a sort of dominance issue, as Kale said, 'that's mine" don't touch it, or you'll regret it. When the females do it to the males, on the other hand, I think its more of a "you're my man" type situation.

I have 1 male and 4 females. I’m just glad it’s normal I was worried it was a neck injury and am relieved it’s just she is all grown up now heh

I just noticed. You have a duck on your head. LOL They poop you know.

Ha yeah. That’s my girl Peep when she was just a duckling. Her and my male, Nibbler liked to snuggle up under that hoodie and would just sleep there. One day she got up and just jumped up and got on my head and sat there triumphantly so I took a picture of it. Then quickly got her down before the inevitable poop happened heh
