Is this the right kind of wood chips?

We've been reaching out to local tree trimming services in our area in Hope's to find wood chips for our run. We've not used them before and I want to make sure I get the right stuff. I've included a picture of what the tree guy sent us.

I'm worried this is too small. And if it is what should I do?
thats perfect

Oh, one last question. Is it okay/good if I mix in pine needles with the wood chips? I have heard that it's good for runs.

Thank you all for the replies.

Being in the US southeast where loblolly and longleaf pines shed their needles abundantly I LOVE to use pine straw in my coop and run.

It's not as absorbent as wood, but it's a great addition to other materials.

Any/all organic material is ok - wood chips, shavings, leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, etc.

If this is in a coop or covered structure, the whole idea is to have “deep dry bedding” of organic material that will dry out the poop quickly and eventually decompose together - when it’s soiled you transfer it to a moist environment like a compost pile or an outdoor run, etc

If it’s for an outdoor run, no problemo just keep adding materials there too - it’s basically like a forest floor or big compost pile. After time you can take back the chunky top and harvest the black gold underneath for use in your landscaping.

Nice looking stuff! Pick out the bigger long pieces.

How much will you get at a time?
Do you have a place to store a large pile?
You really only need an inch or two at a time in the run.
You do not want to pile damp/green chippings in the run as it can cause a bloom of molds that can be toxic.
