I have an EE hen that is 2.5 years old. She is always missing a few feathers around her neck cause I have an picker in the pack. However, in the last week she looks like she has exploded all over the yard and coop. Here she is, please give opinions on if this is a molt or an all out attack from my picker!

She's a poster picture of molt! And yes, it's the time of year chickens will be showing signs of beginning molt.

I've noticed my girls have decreased their egg production by half already, in anticipation of the big wardrobe change. I have fourteen, and I'll be collecting pounds of discarded feathers over the next three or four months.

Thanks - She looks just awefull! I have been saying I am going to take Thelma and put her in jail because she pulls them out by the "root" on her neck. Glad to know the rest of this is normal!
