I think its one of the most attractive colors in coturnix

Wow...thank you all for the awesome info. Just to clarity, tibetans are a type of color of coturnix, right? Sorry, I'm fighting a cold and my head is so fuzzy, I can't seem to think straight

Are they worth breeding to sell for a pet, since it seems like people really like that color? I only got them as food/egg supply, but now I'm thinking maybe if they are such a popular color, would it be worth breeding them to sell fertilized eggs?

Thanks again for all the spectacular advice. You are all so wonderful! I would never had gotten into quail if it wasn't for this for!

LOL...just answered my own question when I re-read that response. I need my cold to go away so I can think!

I tried vent sexing again and this time I got the foam...so its a boy, right? Now I've managed to tag every quail in that pen as a boy...no wonder they are all fighting to the death

YEP...... Thats probably why they sold them--- they're extra roos!

To tackle your color breeding question, coturnix usually arent kept as pets, but to be able to offer specific eggs for sale may be a bonus in your egg selling capability. A quick look at quail eggs on ebay and you'll see many auctions for 50 tibetan (tibiam 1 person calls them

) or 100 golden eggs.... So yes it can be useful.

ahh...very good to know. Still not sure what I'm going to do with them yet so its good to have a few options. Thanks again!

Mine have been inside in a cage all winter so are quickly moving in to the "pet" category

Honesty they are no more trouble than some parakeets I used to have. They are equally messy though!

As much as I love their singing and my little English white's chirping (we changed her name to Cricket so that gives you an idea of what she sounds like), I am looking forward to getting them in to their outside flight pen, but if I didn't have that option, I could see them as inside pets.
