Ok so I am getting 2 Bantam Silkie Hens, 2 Standard EE Hens, 2 Bantam Frizzle Hens, and 1 Bantam Cochin Roo. They all would be staying in a 6x6 coop with a 6x12 run. Will 1 Standard Silver Polish, 1 Standard Sumatra Hen, and 2 Standard Black Cooper Maran Hens and 1 Roo of the same breed fit in the coop comfortably with them? Expanding the run isn't a problem. I know it is to small. I dont know about the coop, is it to small? There are 3 nest boxes in the coop, and I could add more roosts. They all would get to frrerange about 3-4 times a week. Oh, and would the 2 roos fight? If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your coop is going to be a little on the small side for all those birds, even with some of them being bantams.

Ok well I got everything worked out now! I am gonna add a 6x4 coop and use all of my left over wire for thier run! It should give them alot more room. Right? So by the end of it all it will be a 10x6 and and a 12x12 run! Will all that be enough for them? I did my math TOTALLY wrong so dont answer this q!

Too small. I'm suffering the same growing pains here. Can you open a wall and add on?

ETA: we were typing at the same time! That should be fine

I will once I get the first coop done, but I will start the expansion next year! I would have started now but everything uis almost done except a few minor details!

I can't see how that setup is too small. In total you will have 12 chickens. Four sq feet per chicken (if they were all standard and 5 are bantams) would mean 12 x 4 = 48 sq feet. You have a total of a six by ten space which is 60 sq feet. So more than enough inside. Outside you have a twelve by twelve space so 144 sq feet total or 12 sq feet per chicken. total inside/outside space pr chicken is 17 (12 sq ft outside and 5 inside) You just need to make sure, if you have two separate coops/runs that you allocate the chickens correctly to each space. The 6x6 coop has 36 sq feet and the other has 24. Seem, to me putting the five bantams in the smaller one and the seven standard in the larger gives them all more that the suggested 4 sq feet each. And if they all have access to the same 12x12 run each one has 12 sq feet outside.

Thats my expansion! Right now it is 6x6 coop aand 6x12 run, but after it will be 10x6 coop and a 12x12 run!

Here is 3 more questions!

1) Would you guys seperate all of them into thier correct spaces or just give them the hole thing?
2)Will 1 roo be able to fertilize 11 hens? Cause i would have to get rid of one roo. The reason for that is I dont wont my maran roo to croos breed with the frizzles after the cochin did so and vise versa.
3)Wich would you get rid of bantam black cochin roo or the black copper maran roo?

You wouldn't HAVE to get rid of either roo, just keep them separated in different parts of the coop with the girls you want them to "service"
