is this true? Turkeys drowning in the rain!!!

This is my second year with turkeys.

I have 20+ poults they've been out in the rain, they've had access to water, even fairly deep puddles.

They're all still with me. None drowned in their waterers, in their puddles, in the rain.

They haven't died of chill or of being free ranged twice a day from ten weeks on.

Maybe it's breed the ones that are weak and drown are the giant food breeds?

Mine are BRs and Calicos (Sweetgrass mix) not going to be very large. The BR's are my second generation here.

I hear about stupid turkeys but I've not had one. Flighty yes, the Calicos seem more flighty. But I've never had one be dumb.

I think part of what people see is what they expect to see. And I think some of the commercial meat breeds might just have lost an edge.

To date none that made it past the first few days has ever been sick or weak or been stupid, or drowned despite ample opportunity.
