It's our first time with chickens and this one is starting to show some differences between the other Orpingtons. She/he has more red underneath the throat than the other two and a bigger comb, at least at this point. They are about 5.5 months old now.

Ok, thanks.

Really cloudy on the maturation process. I have heard some squawking in the mornings the last 3-4 days.

K, now I am confused. I hatched 10 orpingtons in assorted colorways around May 1. I have 5 that look like this:

I have been referring to these as "Pullets"

And I have 5 that look like this:

I have been calling these "cockerals" -and- I have been plotting against them for the last couple of weeks (time to pop them in the freezer). Have I got it wrong somehow??

Looks a bit Roo-ish. Are those saddle feathers? Are those tail feathers sagging? How bout those giant legs? Hmmmm. And that last pic looks Roo to me.

Thanks for the replies so far, looks like it is about 50/50.

Here are a couple more photos, not the greatest quality as I didn't take much care in snapping them, but I can get more close-up shots tomorrow if it would help you identify.

Hmmmm, based on the last pic....I now vote Hen...lol (the next to last pic...is that her as a younger girl or another chicken altogether?)
