My EE has had a mucky bum for quit a while but I have never been able to figure out what it is. Her feathers are matted around her vent and when my mom went to pick her up for the picture this yellow sticky stuff kinda squirted out a bit. Dear god I didn't bother smelling it but from where I was taking the picture and when my mom was holding her neither of us noticed a particularly strong odour. I have bathed her before and it seemed alright for a while but then it came back. I don't know what this is but it sure looks uncomfortable. I'd like to help her out but don't know what to do.

( I should also mention she is being held sideways )

Her vent looks swollen but not red and all the feathers are matted together. HELP!

I would trim all of the poopy feathers off her backside so that I could get a good look at the skin around her vent. Gleet from the pcitures I have seen looks very red, irritated, and has whitish yellow patches that do not come off with washing. That would be a type of yeast infection. You can wash it with Dawn and water, rinsing well. Then I would coat it with Nustock a sulfur-based farm store medication or monistat cream for fungal infections. Both have good reports of helping. then you need to find the cause of her gleet (if that is what she has.) She may need some plain yogurt in her diet and ACV in her water to get her insides back in shape. Feed her a little extra protein such as eggs or tuna for healing. Some chickens just have poopy feathers--just keep them trimmed.

Ok thankyou, do I need to be careful when trimming her feathers? Is there a sensitive area at the base that will hurt if I cut? and a while ago I thought I noticed some yellow looking stuff around that area... not sure maybe I was just seeing things but anyway, thank you very much for answering

I think you got some good advice from eggcessive. Yes, be sure not to trim the feathers too far or they will bleed, something like a fingernail. The trimming is really to help get and keep her clean; use your judgment.

Vent gleet is not one condition but a number of them. Really it means something like "cruddy, slimy vent." I think the treatment eggcessive recommended is likey to work or at least help a lot.

Here is a more thorough description -- but I hesitate to recommend this because it sounds like the prognosis is not good, and people seem able to resolve it fairly well.
