i collect the eggs every night before bed so i know exactly how many they lay - usually an egg each every single day.
we have 7 chickens, tonight i collected 8 eggs!
how unusual is it for a chicken to lay twice in one day?

A few weeks ago, I got 7 from my 6 hens. It is still rare though.

Is it possible you have a broody that has gone into hiding to raise a clutch, she may pop back up in a couple of weeks if that is the case.[IMG]

Even though an odd time of year to do it, stranger things have been known to happen :)

I actually have a broody sitting on eggs, 11 days in. She is only 6 1/2 months old too and a BR. I thought it would be a BO first and a little older.
