Hi
I went to put my chcikens up for the evening and found my favorite with a crooked neck. She was fine last time I checked on them. I brought her inside and have her caged alone. I have not delt with this before. She is a 6wk old polish. She just walks in circles or lays with her head all jacked up. Is this wry neck? what do I do to help her? I am willing to do anything to keep her alive.

Looks like the symptom Wry Neck.

What do you feed, including treats?

Treatment is vitamin therapy - give her 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily along with a little egg. See that she's staying hydrated. Offer her some wet mush feed which may be easier for her to handle.

Can you tell if she's been attacked or pecked in the head? Wry Neck is a neurological symptom, a few common causes are disease like Marek's, trauma and possibly vitamin/nutritional deficiency.

I did not see any physical injuries to her. I am going to check her again in the morning. Do I just put the vitamins in the egg? is it a raw egg or scrambled egg? Does the egg take place of the selenium gel? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first time encountering wry neck though I have read about it. I want to make sure I do everything right to help her. The vitamin B can be a tablet? I guess a 1/4 would be small enough not to cause issue? I noticed a couple times within the last week or two she would sort of move her head oddly. I thought, man I hope that is not the sign of anything. This morning she was fine and the few times I did go check on them she was fine. I found her at dusk with her neck twisted, so to speak. I brough her in the house and she is staying inside with me in a large crate until I can get her through this. How often should I help her eat and drink through the day? I want to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated or starve. She had a full crop when I brought her inside. I am going to try to help her eat in the morning. Any suggestions on the best way to help her eat and drink? I will tube feed her if necessary.

Thank you so much for your help

I would give scrambled egg. Yes, the egg is to help with the uptake of E.
Pop the vitamins into her beak one at a time and let her swallow or if you can't do that, then yes, you can mix them with a bit of the egg. Likely she won't like the egg when you do that:)
Wet mush feed.
You can try holding her neck and see if she can eat on her own, if not, then tubing would be the next best thing.

oh wow, I didn't think they could swallow pills. I guess if they can swallow a snake, they can swallow a pill. I got the vit e oil but I will go get pills in the am.
