What breed is Aaron? You say Black Star, but you hatched him? If he actually is a Black Star, those are sex-linked hybrids, and Aaron is definitely a pullet.

One of my black star hens mated with either my easter egger roo or my mille fleur d'uucle roo, so it's a black star hybrid mix, even though black stars ARE already hybrids.

You can only sex chicks at about six weeks old. Sometimes you can sex them earlier than that, but they have to be a fast-growing breed. Checking their wings will not work unless it is a breed and a bloodline bred specifically for that, which you likely will never find.
