Really? They look like RIRs to meFeed stores order their chicks from hatcheries. Most likely Production Reds rather than actual Rhode Island Reds. They do vary in build, feathering, and shade of red.
PR's are skinnier and they dont have as large a comb, right? Could I maybe post a pic here tomorrow to determine what breed they actually are?Rhode Island Reds are a distinct shade of deep, mahogany red; and that have a distinct body shape/build. Most hatchery birds don't even come close.
Thanks! It's yes, no, and yes. Just one of them looks a bit bigTheir weight sounds good to me.
Are they laying? Do you have issues with parasites, internal or external? Are their feathers in good condition, nice and glossy, not dull or broken?
If your answers are yes/well, no and yes, sounds like you're good to go to me.
are production reds variations of isa browns?Production Reds aren't really a breed, and don't have a 'standard'. The size of their single combs can vary, as does their overall size and shape.
Isa Browns are a type of Red Sexlink. Entirely different. They are a specific type of crossbreed, done for ease of sexing at hatch. Males and females have different coloring.are production reds variations of isa browns?
