We got 2 Isa browns in April they are about a month and a half old, one of them we think is a rooster, He is always at the back of the brooder friendly when I pick him up and always goes for the treats. just wondering if we have a rooster.

I could be wrong but I thought ISA brown were sex linked and the brown chicks were always pullets. That is what I was told anyhow.

I looked it up and, although not 100%, male chicks are generally white and females buff or red.

Thats a definite pullet, ISA browns are sexed at hatch by their color. A rooster is yellow while the hens will be redish brown and as they grow the rooster will be white with red on the wings and hens will be brown/red with a little white.

There is no question it's a pullet. An Isa Brown is a trade name for a red sex link. The male will be white or mostly white. They can be sexed at hatch, as with all sex links, which is the point of it all.
