Your birds are getting such good color on them! Can't wait till I can see what all mine are doing. So many babies growing out not sure where I am going to put them all LOL.
@cree571 if you look closely at your rooster, he doesn't have fully white earlobes. If any of your hens have partially white earlobes, they could be occasionally producing those red ear lobe offspring. I read a study a few weeks back about results of crossing pure white ear lobe to pure red ear lobe and what the results were. I'll try to find that study again tomorrow.
You kn ow how I'm always giving advice and telling people what they should do...LOL
It must be a throwback to the lav orp used to introduce lav to the leghorns.
I talked with Buddy at length about this issue yesterday and he said it must be a throw back to the lav orp. Mine breeders are F6. F7, from different birds, is just starting to lay. He said he has not seen this before in his. Guess I'm just lucky like that!
As always, breeding birds is a work in progress.
Time to do some splits!
You want bama's cockerel? You're welcome to him if you'd like... I don't think I can keep him, need to downsize some more so I can focus on some improvements in other pens...
He hatched from Candace's egg
Yup... forgot to mention that... gotta cut me some slack, this sauna has my brain broiled, lol...
