ISABELLE LEGHORNS IN USA!

Pics

This is my group of babies from lisa at posey poultry! 2 silverrudd Isbars. 2 splash Isbars and 4 Isabelles!

They are growing up very pretty. I love seeing the willow legs on the splash Silverudd's and the yellow legs on the leghorns.

Thank you for the pictures! I think they have a very good mother.

Well this is the only Isabelle I hatched. From 7 eggs only 2 made it. I had an incubarltor issue on day 19. I lost 12 almost ready chicks that did not hatch. I did get 1 brown leghorn split to isabell. I hope it a hen.

This is one of my babies from cree75i

Wow -- what a nice batch of chicks -- they are just beautiful.

That one pict of the chick + flag -- You should submit to the BYC calendar for the month of July next year -- it is a great pict -- and a beautiful chick. Good job. Sorry that your hatch wasn't as good as you wished -- but with incubator issues, it's great to get any. Congratulations....

Good Lavender color. The pullet looks like she has good feather definition in her cape. Her tail is getting full. I hope the roos tail comes on up and his isabelle becomes more prominent. Wing set looks good. I feed a high protein feed to help with the feather quality in my isabelle's. I can really see a difference since I've been doing that. I think I see a gorgeous little blue Silverudd blue too! Thank you for the pictures!

Thanks Cree57i. All these are from your stock. The Silverudd's Blue in the third pict on the left the female and on the right by a feeder is the male. The Silverudd's blue tail walking out of the pict in the first pict is one from my SBs....

Their growth rate is pretty good (but I haven't weighed them) -- and their feed is 20% protein. Saw a grower feed in the feed store today that was 24% protein -- and thought that may be a bit too much.

Their color is nice -- a bit hard to photo and not a really good lighting situation -- I will be working on whiter earlobes -- I think my guy has red ones at present...... He is just now beginning to get some saddle feathers and they will be straw.... -- they are so pretty!.

My 2 silverrudd Isbars. Do you think they are both cockrels or both pullets combs are about the same size i haven seen any saddle feathers yet. 8 weeks old now
Oh yeah all the kids know they can go in the dog crate and not be bothered by any of the hens.

All of your isabelles are cockerels???

I got 1 pullet and 3 cockrels! I think the 1 egg that hatched may be a pullet. Those I got from cjwalden. When i take the littles out i let them stay in the crate during the day and bring them back in at night for a couple of weeks. Then when i let them out i leave the door open only far enough for the littles to get in. I have the door wired so it wont open more and a brick so it wont close more. Not sure what I'll do with the extra cockrels guess I need to build a bachelor's pad.what do think about my Isbars? I think the splash I have a pullet Izzy and a cockrel Freckles. But im not sure about the blues yet both combs are anout the same.

I am not the be all and end all of sexing birds, but I think you have 2 blue cockerels and one splash pullet with the Silverudd Blue. If I were you, I would grow your cockerels out and then pick the best one. Since you have a CJWalden isabelle, that one is a bit removed genetically from the ones you got from me, so you might have a good breeding pair. When you start breeding birds you have to have 'your ducks in a row' and know who came from where so you know how they are related. Legbands or some other sort of identification is a must. All of my SB cockerels get along well. When they hit that teenage boy stage they are somewhat obnoxious, but not as bad as some other breeds I have. You can always use them to make some very nice olive eggers when crossed with other breeds. With all the chicks you have been hatching, you are going to need a BIG bachelor pad!
