Isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?!

I ordered one of these too, you can stack them up to four high but I can't afford all four right now so I'm just getting one to try it out. The design is brilliant, it appears you can keep chicks with very little mess and a minimum of cleanup with these.

i think those are real cool and had a idea in my mind

i will be buying a metal garage shelf and chicken wire around it to make a 4 stack brooder

the shelf is £20 UK Pounds and the wire i already have from when i made my chicken run

I know brooders can be really messy and a lot of work to clean if not done right. The thing I like about this brooder is the 1/4 inch wire mesh bottom for the poo to fall through, the slide out tray under the bottom to get rid of the mess, the very clever water bottle with a long thin slot so the water doesn't get messy, and the wide lipped feeder that keeps all the food contained and the birds have to stick their heads out of slots to get to it, so no poo in the food. And no drowning in the water either.

I don't mind my Rcom incubator, but my only problem is that the humidity in it is WAY to high for my taste. I like about 30% for chicken eggs, and the Rcom keeps it at about 60%, so I just don't add water to my Rcom until the last week, just to rehydrate the eggs a little for lock-down, if the humidity was Too low.

I thought you could program the Rcom to what ever humidity you desired?

I have an RCom 20 Pro and an RCom 50 Pro. You can program both to whatever you want, even in the 'Chicken' mode. You can also change to 'Other Birds' and program anything you want in about 30 seconds, all the way to the hatch day. I imagine if you lowered the humidity that the number of days may change? Have you ever had less than 95+ percent hatch rate using the standard settings at 45% to 60% for the last three days? Not sure why you would even want to change it if all the fertile eggs hatch on the standard settings...

How long have you had your Rcoms? I really wanted the 20 Pro but after reading the Rcom thread I decided not to get one.

Like I said, I have an Rcom mini, it doesn't have humidity control. As for the standard settings, I have used them, but the humidity was too high During the incubation (because it has no humidity control), and I didn't like that.
Lowering the humidity wouldn't change the number of days it would take for them to hatch, but adjusting the temperature can do that.

The first 2 times I used it I was using fertile chicken eggs, and I was keeping the water in the incubator, and both hatches, only 1 chick would hatch. My third hatch using it, I didn't add water during the incubation period, but when day 18 rolled around, I added water to the incubator, and I got 3 gorgeous little babies. (All 3 hatched)

Which RCom thread is that? Keep in mind that they have made some significant upgrades to the RCom units. The humidity used to be a sponge that would fall apart all the time. Then they switched to a heated rod. Now it's some kind of super fancy heated element that is in the water that precisely controls the humiditiy. This latest upgrade is what sold me on the unit. I've actually had my RCom 20 about two weeks, only six days to my first hatch. And I've had my RCom 50 just a few days, still 18 days to hatch on that one. I'm working on another RCom 50 as I have a line of customers waiting for my chicks to hatch! I have more eggs that I can hatch right now and more customers than birds LOL.
