ISO ducks!

recently moved up to Livingston manor New York. I kept my two girls in their new coop for 3 weeks and then let them out to play in the pond. They refused to come back at night and the pond is too big for me to herd them back. One of the girls died the first night- no sign of her. Assuming fox or hawk. Though it's been a week now and the other girl is still alive out on the pond. I've now built her a smal shelter on the pond she can use but doesn't seem interested. Anyhow she seems lonely and I'm looking to get a duck or two for her. Anyone in their area have some for sale or know of an auction? Also any tips on keeping her safe out on the pond? It doesn't seem like I'll ever be able to get her into a coop at night.

How big is the pond? Is it possible to add hardware mesh over it? I lure my duckies in their coop with treats to put them to bed, now they are in the routine and go to sleep on their own! I had to wean them off the treats, but maybe you could do the same. Sorry for your loss. Best of luck!
