Good morning to all!

It was been at least 47 hours since my Muscovy has internally piped. I hade a delta hole yesterday and no progress with trying to hatch yet. I can see he’s active but he’s just not pecking on the inside. He is chirping away as well.
Do you think he is half stuck and cannot progress?
I see features up against the safety hole that look totally dry..
I’m very scared as we just lost our first baby a few days ago.
Please advise.

Blessings,
Amy

I probably would assist at this point, since that's such a long time. Maybe the chick is just too exhausted, but I'm not an expert and hopefully someone can respond with more info..
Wishing you good luck 🙏please post back and let us know..

I’m quite the novice myself! But I truly appreciate your very fast help and advice.
He’s VERY active but seems like his head can’t reach the shell. He’s peeping loud as if to say “help” and the safety hole is blocked as you can see in the photo.
I believe he has had more then enough time to absorb his yolk sac, I’m just afraid it got to dry inside the egg..

Blessings and many thanks. ❤️❤️❤️

If you're unable to find the bill, you still need to check for any remaining veins in the membrane before proceeding. Getting the membrane moistened (just a little as you don't want to drown the little one) will make it so you'll be able to see any active veins. You can use a flashlight in a darkened room to get an idea of what's going on too.

I would open the shell a little more over the air cell just a bit so you can get a good look and find the bill. You want to see if it's still chewing and/or yawning before opening it up all the way.
He has stopped chewing as of yesterday. Now he’s peeping very loudly.
I know that the chewing is the baby absorbing the yolk sac, but that has stopped. It appears very dry inside the egg. The feathers I can see through the hole are totally dry..
How big should I make the hole?
His beak is right in the center.

Start at the hole you've already made and gently chip away teeny bits of the shell (not the membrane), staying inside the air cell. If the bill is clear, it's OK. It sounds like it's getting frustrated, but it's important to make sure the veins have receded so it doesn't bleed.

I chipped a bit more and moistened the membrane. I turned up the humidity as well.
He’s peeping so loud, I feel so sorry for him, it’s been so long. He’s not pecking on the shell though. I can clearly see his whole head and half a body, I’m afraid the rest of him is shrink wrapped and he can’t make anymore progress. 😢😣
