It’s like having a newborn

Yes, we all (including myself), agree it was very irresponsible of them. However it was done and because it was done I now get the joy of raising a chicken.

Is it the “ideal” situation? Of course not. I think we all agree on that as well.

However there is more than one way to do things. Clary is a pretty happy little chick.

I think due to my wording the sounds she makes were misinterpreted. She isn’t calling (although she does occasionally because that’s what chickens do) and I answer and she’s fine. She isn’t chirping at the top of her lungs constantly. It’s just a quiet little chatter. She just does it a lot. From what I have seen from googling and on YouTube she sounds just like a happy content little chick.

I didn’t take anything as an accusation :)

I just agree that hatching eggs and not wanting the chickens (or doing anything that involves a living being) for a school project is not the right thing to do.

I also recognize that Clary living with only me, a dog and some fish as a flock is not the ideal situation either.

However, Clary seems very happy and we are doing the best we can.

She has a warm clean brooder. She has a feather duster and other toys. She did NOT like the mirror. She pecked at it and kicked it so I took it back out.

She is with me all day and is constantly being talked to and loved on.

She likes to get out and run around and stretch her wings. She likes to hop and jump and flap her wings. She loves to watch the fish (I have six bettas).

It took her about two days to establish that she is the boss and she runs this place ;)
