Somebody FINALLY laid an egg here! I'm sad that I don't know who did it, although I suspect it was one of the Dominiques. I went outside a few minutes ago to put the girls away for the evening, and I opened up the coop door to check for eggs. Nope, no eggs. So I throw in their treat, go around to the run to close the chicken door and THERE IT WAS!! Someone laid a little egg right in front of the run door; it was covered in mud and pine shavings, but I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. I wonder why she didn't lay it in the nest box???

Here's my little beauty:

It IS a cool feeling! I can't believe how excited I am, and I've been excited all evening. It feels kind of silly, but I can't help it. I'm about to go scramble that egg and enjoy it. It cost me about $1,000.

Congrats and my DH says our eggs cost about $75 each. Ain't it great to get the first egg? Our Doms started laying about 2 weeks ago and we still get silly smiles when we come into the house with a warm egg in our hands.

Maybe the poor girl didn't know what was happening. Some of my girls will lay their first one on the floor and the rest in the nests.

Oh, CONGRATS!!

How old are your Doms? Mine are 24 weeks tomorrow, and I'm almost positive it was Zipper. I'm so glad my eggs aren't the only golden eggs out there.
