It happened, it happened! My first egg!

Hooray and congrats! That's a big egg for a first one! mine started laying a few weeks ago and now I'm getting 4-5 eggs a day. What a cool feeling!

Congrats, Amy! It probably caught her by surprise. I got one in front of the coop door today by a seasoned layer-the reason? She was in a nest and was pushed out by another hen so she just deposited it on the floor, bad girl. Guess she couldn't wait for her favorite nest to beome unoccupied again, LOL.

Yep, but that doesn't explain why she laid one outside the door of the coop in the leaves one day and the way I found it the next morning was that it crunched under my shoe, LOL! She has a bad habit of doing that when she can't get the nest she wants, even though there are five roomy nests for four girls. It's my goofy Blue Orpington girl, Velvet. She's quite the diva. Yours will probably lay the next one in the nest.

The Dom who laid the first egg was 24 wks and 3 days. 2 RIRs laid a day or two latter - they were 22 wks. Today we got our first Orp egg. The buff girls are 25 weeks and 3 days.

My Buff Orps will be the last to lay also. We have had just 1 Orp egg as of today. The pic shows the 3 different eggs that the girls lay. I also added a pic of 3 of the girls
