It happened to me, too many chickens

There's a post like this called chicken math.... I've posted in that one too, this also happened to me one year, and it got to be an incredible chore...I always had around 10 chickens but one year I went up to about 30 or 40 and it was crazy I felt like all I did was take care of the chickens and work... And I've had chickens for over 20 years still processing them isn't a problem for me but I came up with excuses on why to keep every single one old ones middle aged ones new ones I like this one's personality that one's color this month it's good eggs etc etc....when I finally couldn't take it anymore I posted on Craigslist and I make sure 10 chickens that I absolutely wanted and the rest went up for sale....I sold some and ended up processing about eight of them and it was such a relief finally after... I wondered why I was procrastinating for so long and making myself suffer... Sometimes you got to do what's right and what you can handle, when it no longer is enjoyable that's when you know you got to make a change!!! Good luck you got to just

But here's my question: what do you all DO with all these eggs???
My DH and DS began taking my eggs and selling them at work. All was well while only 10-12 were laying. Once all 26 began laying, there weren’t enough people to buy at the plant. I was getting 18-20 each day. I began giving eggs away here and there: family, neighbors, grandchildren’s teachers, veterinarian, sawmill owner, etc. You’d be surprised how much people appreciate the gift.

I now have 37 ‘of age’ layers, but am thankful it is now time for molt. That will lower my over-winter layer count to 16 pullets. I do have plans to set up a little road side stand at the end of my driveway this next spring, probably one or two days a week in the evening. I’m slowly getting some signs painted to put up. After about a month, I should have some ‘regulars’ that know my routine. I know I’m a little prejudiced (as we all are), but I have some of the most gorgeous eggs and everyone who sees them just oohs and awes over them. I’m not sure the blues and olives pick up well in my kitchen light though.
