It happened to me, too many chickens

It's like when you go to the grocery store and see all the different types of chips (or cookies or ice cream) and have to get a bunch. I had someone offer me a couple Bantam hens a few years ago and the only thing that stopped me is one my hens at the time was pretty aggresive to one of the smaller girls in the coop. And she wasn't that much smaller . I couldn"t put some cute little Bantams in with her.

My DH's workshop has been calling to me too, but NO! MUST BE STRONG and keep with the coop I've got already. 35 to 40 birds are enough over the winter, right?!

I hope so since my winter number will be 38, unless some of my older ones decide their time is up before then.

Last year we started winter with 48, and it was okay, but really pushing it. This year we'll have fewer, a good thing.

Ok. But here's my question: what do you all DO with all these eggs??? I can't sell them from my home as we live on a blind curve on a dangerous street (because of PA regulations I would have to sell them from home)
I am hoping the food pantry will take them.
It's a mixed flock so I could incubate and sell a few but not a ton.

That is only enough birds for "Wisdom's Place". You need more.

Tell me about it... We started out with 5 chickens last Spring (2018). Just a year and a half later, we now have 8 chickens, 4 turkeys, 5 ducks and over 50 quail.

I went from 6 to 53 in 2 years lol I finally got my numbers down to 18 and then this morning had two hatch under my broody ‍ It’s a sickness I swear.
