Why do I need a handle the lid is easy to take off.

It's so you can take the lid off single handed......for easy candling.

It gave me something to do.
All the base is is just thin plastic walls.
By adding the insulation it should help retain and stabilize the heat much better. Less heat out less the heater works.Faster heat up when opening lid and closing.
