So I have never incubated eggs before, heck I don't even own an incubator yet.
I will be purchasing the IncuView incubator by Incubator Warehouse.
Let the fun begin!!!

My first egg collected this morning is by my Partridge Orpington which is crossed with one of my Orpington Roos. I'll be collecting my own eggs for about a week and also order a dozen from someplace yet to be determined. I took an egg carton and cut the top off and lined with a paper towel. So all I need to do is turn about 3 times a day correct? Also how much do you turn each time,1/4 turn? Eggs are being stored laying down. What can I write on the eggs with? A regular pencil? Thanks for any help along with any tips!

Have you been checking for fertility when you break eggs to eat?
Pencil is fine.
You don't need to turn, the Incuview has a turner(not sure if you can buy one without a turner)

@aart come on now! if you haven't noticed I am not one to mess around..
I'vebeen checking every egg I eat, fertility has been very good. I just wish my Lavender Orp had started laying. Only the Buff and Partridge.
In regards to turning the eggs do I have to turn them daily while I have them laying in the egg carton waiting?
As I type this I am online looking to order a dozen of other eggs. So many choices!!! Should have about 24 or so to go once incubator comes in.

Oh, yeah...thaaaat turning....yes, good to do....I just prop end of carton up about 2-3", switch ends every day...eggs go fat end up in carton.
