Dont lay them flat .
Put them in the carton pointy end down like usual.
You want the air bubble to stay on the rounded end where the chick will eventually pip.
Like aart says just tip the end of the carton alternating the end once daily.
Take at least one full day to test your new incubator monitoring heat and humidity before you add the eggs. Store the hatching eggs in a cool undisturbed area.

Or two days. I has a hell of time learning the digital controls of the incuview.

They'll be fine....slow down a bit.
I would not buy any expensive hatching eggs until you've got an incubation under your belt. It's pretty big learning curve.

Are you talking about the actually incubating or storage? When you incubate, you can either stand them up or lay them on the side.... I believe the Incuview incubator is a lay on the side type. As for turning them, you don't have to, it's automatic.

I was storing them laying down. I figured that's how they go in the incubator so why not keep it that way.
Now I have them stored pointy end down and I will lift opposite ends of the carton 2-3 times a day.
@aart ain't no slowing this machine down.

Here are my goals with this whole chicken fever. 2 Pens one will strictly be Lavender Opringtons. Other pen will be my project pen to develop my own "meat bird". Using my Black Oprington Roo crossed with Delaware, Rocks or Jersey Giants. Would love to have a fairly fast growing bird with great egg laying ability. That about sums this whole chicken madness up.

And so the addiction begins...... I started just to have fresh eggs for us..... 10 years ago now I have 100 or so hens, 30 turkeys and some ducks

Ok Incuview Incubator is going to arrive at the end of next week, I ordered 8 Delaware, 6 Black Jersey Giants, and 4 Rhode Island Whites eggs, I should have enough of my own Orpington eggs to finish filling the incubator come the end of next week.
So now for the questions. I've heard take the instructions as chuck them.
1)Temps for the whole time should be 99.5* ideal 99*-100* ok ?
2) What humidity levels for what days?
3) Is it ok to open incubator when needed?
4) When you refer to lock down is that @ day 18? What does lockdown mean? no opening of cover?
5) Take chicks out and place into brooder as they dry off? what about if they haven't all hatched yet? Wait for them all to hatch?
6) Now specifically to the Incuview, Outter ring filled with water yields 40-50% humidity
All rings filled yield 60-70% humidity.? Correct?
7) Remove egg turner tray at day 18?

Brief run down of what should be done start to finish would be great.
