It has begun!!! 1st Time

@aart yes I did look at the incuview thread. Boy is it long. I did not read every single thing, when I saw data posted I paid closer attention.
It is long....but lots of good info, worth the time to get thru it.
Maybe save some links to the best posts.

Ok Incuview Incubator is going to arrive at the end of next week, I ordered 8 Delaware, 6 Black Jersey Giants, and 4 Rhode Island Whites eggs, I should have enough of my own Orpington eggs to finish filling the incubator come the end of next week.
So now for the questions. I've heard take the instructions as chuck them.
1)Temps for the whole time should be 99.5* ideal 99*-100* ok ?
Yes the temp should be at 99.5F
2) What humidity levels for what days?
Humidity is 40 to 55 until lock down on day 18. Then add more water and fill both sides up. This should up your humidity. Before you lock down check your eggs by candling each of them. You should see movement. Now its time to close the incubator and not open it till all chicks are hatched and dry. Chicks can live up to three days on the yolk they absorb.
3) Is it ok to open incubator when needed? You can open it from time to time to candle eggs and turn them if your do not have a auto turner.
4) When you refer to lock down is that @ day 18? What does lockdown mean? lock down means no opening the incubator. No turning the eggs. Remove Automatic turner if you have one with your incubator. no opening of cover? That is correct.
5) Take chicks out and place into brooder as they dry off? No let them be till chicks have hatched. Other wise you may have lots of problems with then other chicks shrink wrapping. This is when the membrane on the inside drys out and the chick can no longer get out of the egg and it will die. what about if they haven't all hatched yet? let them in the incubator and leave them alone. Wait for them all to hatch? Yes and when they are all dry you may place them into the brooder that you have set up before hatch time.
6) Now specifically to the Incuview, Outter ring filled with water yields 40-50% humidity
All rings filled yield 60-70% humidity.? Correct? In your manual it may tell you what each side is.
7) Remove egg turner tray at day 18? Yes or it can be programmed to turn off itself.

Brief run down of what should be done start to finish would be great.
Thank you all for your help

I would read the two articles ( the Beginners Guide and the Guide to Assist ) people told you to as it is a great help. If you have to assist the article tells you how. What to look out for and when to assist. Don't take the easy way out read up on what your doing and interested in which is Hatching Chicks. Calibrate your thermometer by using a cup filled with ice and then adding cold water to it. Give it a few minutes to get cold. Now place the thermometer in it. It should read 32 degrees. I have tried answering most of your questions next to each one. Hope this helps, best of luck with your incubator and with your hatch. Please let us know how it goes and keep us posting.

Thank you very much :highfive: i will surely keep this thread updated.

For those of you that use scales to weight your eggs, which one do you use? I wouldn't mind having one. Would be nice for processing day or to weigh a bird if ever needed for meds. Did you purchase one in one gram increments or half gram increments? How precise did you get one?
This would be used for monitoring humidity levels related to air cell development.
