It has begun

While I am wait'n for my chicks to hatch, (16th and 20th) I set up a crock pot hatcher..I have not hatched in it before, but wanted to see if I can do it...
I am waiting on one more LO egg then I will have 4 LO eggs, an olive, and a blue andelusian (white)
.
I am going to say a feb. 2 Ground hog's day hatch.
what a cool idea.

I'll be very curious how that goes for you.

if it goes well, I could do that, and then use the Hovabator as a hatcher, for lockdowns.

I'm gonna have to throw a thermometer in our crok pot.

we have a big one.

my wife will be upset, since we use it at least once a week......lol

mine has a nice heat dial, I turn knob until light goes on then back off, heat is still on but pretty low, I have temp at 102 for a while now which is great for the still air. I would not use a crock pot that only has high, low temps they get too hot on low...

Wow, going to have to try this some time!

I wonder if a roasting pan might work?

might be a little traumatic for the chicks if they hatch in there tho.

I'd cooked many chickens in there.

I'm finding these crock pots very interesting

I like my styro-box incubator, I am just playing with this since I have the time, and the curiosity.

I'm almost hoping it doesn't work. I have been strong and resisted getting an incubator, but I do have a crock pot. Could be trouble...
