I came home to a box of half smashed eggs... Very bummed. They were shipped in a box way to small for a dozen eggs with a heavy duty warmer on top... Wasn't expecting them till next week. Fast shipping, bad boxing.

Oh geez... thats the thing with shipped eggs.... You have to walk and ask people through the packaging.. I have yet to set shipped eggs but I have been reading advice about it.. seems like a lot of work. Sorry for your loss.

Me too, I was really looking forward to setting Cuckoo Marans and Speckled Sussex. I ended up with 1 CM, 1 SS, 1 Blank Austorlourp and 2 Brahman. I did find a lady not to far away from me here in WA with BCM eggs for sale so I'm going to try meeting up with her. There aren't many people around here selling purebred eggs right now.

I'm not a breed purist, my first batch were Eastgate look nothing like each other (their puffy cheeks are so cut!) . Just want to try my own crosses and I have a local lady that will but any extras I hatch for her free range flock but she likes Marans EE's and Sussex's best. I'll try hatching just about anything right now!

.... Except Turkens, Turkens kinda freak me out. It's not logical but there you have it. No Turkens.

As of this morning, I have 26 total eggs in the incubator.
Last night, I had nine pips.
this morning, I had 12 pips and one chick.

5 AM update. My wife just told me, that the oldest daughter snuck past our bedroom door on her way to the incubator.

She saw the new chick in the incubator and came running back into our bedroom jumping up-and-down!
