thanks......I'm undecided about how I want to go next. I hate that the ordered chicks date got pushed a month, but finding the breed eggs I want, would mean shipped eggs, and are as expensive per unit as the chicks....dammit!!!

4/5 of mine hatched. one egg tried to pip out the point, and broke its yolk in doing so.

I tossed in 2 more eggs in incubator 2 days after putting the above chicks in...

Now this gray egg is zipping...

yer on fire!!

our incubator is cleaned and drying right now. wife is not opposed to hatching more.

I'm looking for Barred Rock pullets and roosters, and Delaware pullets and roosters, and RIR pullets and roosters.

I stared with 9 different hatchery breeds. EE and New Hampshire were by far the best layers, although I did not have Dels or RIR. The barred rock was the family favorite, but a spotty layer. Take this all with a grain of salt, since my sample size was one each!

I could go with some cukoo marans instead of the rocks?

was wanting to be able to produce sex linked chicks, for us to maybe sell also........

was thinking the delawares, since they are a good dual purpose bird, with the RIR rooster, would give us red sex links......

then the rocks with the RIR would give us black sex links.

That sounds like a good plan. Now you just have to get your chicks!

You can hatch eggs, but you will have to get twice as many. You know, boys.

Have you thought about trying an autosexing breed? ie Bielefelder
