I know it hurts but think what a wonderful life they had...loved and treated so specially...not as though they were "just chickens." Are those little booties?????? I love that picture!
You did the right thing. To end suffering is one of the noblest things an animal owner can do for their charges. They had a great life,..... remember the happy times, the fun and silly times. I'm sure if they had to do it all again, they'd still want you as their owner.
Thank you all so much. It's been hard here loosing two godsent angels within about a month of each other. I'm still crying my eyes out over this.
Kernal is taking it harder than me. He didn't eat any food today and any treats that I gave him he just clucked and clucked with no hen to run to his side. He constantly crowed all day long and didn't want to come inside even after it was dark. Like he was out there waiting for Krispy to make her way to the backdoor. It's killing me to watch him....
Welasharon- yes those are little booties on her. She went through a bad spell of bumblefoot on both pads of her feet. Surprisingly the booties (Baby socks) worked perfectly for keeping the bandages on except when it was wet out.
