Some of you may remember my thread about Buzzy -- how she had to be put down. It was hard for me to get used to her not being there... Her spot on the roost is still empty. But after a while I adjusted. At least I thought I had.

Just the other day I went to type up the names of all my girls, and I started the way I always have, "Henny, Buzzy --" I stopped. And cried. It has to be "Henny, Duchess," etc. now. Buzzy's not here.

It hurt. So bad. ='(

I am so sorry. I am going through the same thing, my ferret had to be put down because of cancer on Monday. The pain will evetually go away and you will think of all the memories you had together.

Ya know, not all my chickens are that special to me. However, I have one tiny 10 ounce turken named Pot Pie and she is the oldest bird we have here and that ugly thing has my heart. She has managed to survive 3 predator attacks without a feather lost. I understand how you feel, because when her time comes I am gonna bawl my eyes out.

Im so sorry. I know how you feel. My rooster(aka best friend) died last year, and i still havent recovered. I cry when i read things like this. im crying right now!
Wait, scratch that, im bawling! I miss you soo much Peeper! i love you and i always will!

I am so sorry about Buzzy. Hopefully, as time passes, the hurt will gradually lessen and you will be able to think more about the happy times you shared with your sweet girl. It has been more than 2 years since I lost my dear Speckles, and I think of her every day. I try to remember the funny things she did and put the sadness out of my mind as best I can. It is amazing how totally attached we can become to chickens; they are such individuals and have so much more personality than I had ever imagined. You have many friends here at BYC who understand at least a bit of what you are feeling and send you good thoughts and our concern. Take care.

I know how you feel. My most favorite hen died. I actually trained her... to jump up on my lap and she'd always let me pet her. Also my silkie died too.
