It is I: Mock!

So the buff Orpingtons and the Brahma chick were our original flock. We had a little bit of an incident with a curious neighbour and their hunting dog... Needless to say we were quite upset.

The chicks are the Easter Eggers and the Americaunas. I haven't taken pics of the Australorps yet. Then there's the quail. And as a bonus a pic of our meat rabbits just before dinner time, simply because they cute and everyone needs to see the cuteness.
Adorable birds! ❤

Hello all!
I am Mock, we recently got some chickens and quail and everytime I google something about them this places pops up and so I figured hey, why not join so I can ask my own questions. So here I am!

Now let me follow your questions!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had a couple of chickens around 12ish years ago before I moved out from my parents. I did not do most of the care though so I don't remember much.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
7

(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Easter Eggers
2 Americaunas
3 Australorps
12 coturnix quail

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I enjoy the self sufficiency that comes with having your own flock. I also find them incredibly soothing after a long day. Just watching them be chickens really relaxed me.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Lots of DIY stuff, artsy things, sewing, cooking. Honestly anything that catches my interest I will try at least once.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's just myself and my husband. We have three dogs, we also have a bunch of meat rabbits and an pet indoor rabbit and a leopard gecko. I'm a teacher, I teach grade 7 Art.
Welcome Mock glad you're here. The fact that you have meat rabbits is a huge step in right direction. I agree with you they're very relaxing... especially after a day with 7th graders!

Love the pictures!

Due to roaming dogs, feral cats, raccoons, opossums, coyotes, foxes, snakes, AND Cooper's hawks we have our bantams in a hoop coop, but they seem to be content.
