It should be illegal to come to work sick!!!!!

I understand, I've had to do that before too, but I didn't work in food prep either. When I had the fever and shakes I didn't come in, I told 'em to kiss my booty, and guess what I worked there almost 6 years, so....

I know this guy does. They don't have a super-strict attendance policy where we work now. Heck I think he lives with his parents anyway.
There is no reason to expose everyone if you don't have to.

At leat he has a good work ethic..Even if hes lacking common sense..

My boss will chase you out of his office with a spray can of Lysol if you are around him sick...so he is a big proponent of working from home...but when you're on your deathbed you're supposed to still answer all the "urgent" issues via email.

(which is usually dozens of emails per day)

That sounds familiar for some random reason...except 3 points per 6 months is more like it.

I used to work at a big department store *hrrm hrrHRmmfredmeyershrrrhm cough* and you could NOT call in sick. If you did you were to provide a doctor's note stating you were sick on the day you called in. Great idea but that store was notorious for not providing an insurance option..and I made a few dollars more at the time than was allowed for oregon medicaid. Sad really. If you did not come in you were fired. They were really very strict, I bet they still are. I went to work sick lots of times as I couldn't lose the job and could not afford a doctor.

At my current employer, we can access our network from home. Thus being said, the owner has recently made it the company policy that if you even THINK you are sick and contagious, work from home or take a sick day. He will lose more money if a whole office gets sick with the flu or cold.

Being a hard worker is one thing...making coworkers sick is just unnecessary.
