I just got my chicks on Thursday and as prepared as I thought I was I now know I wasn't nearly as ready as I thought and chicks are as scary as babies. I went to bed that first night sure rheyvwere going to be dead the bezt morning. I have questioned everything I thought I knew and reread everything I once read before. Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing, I'm scared as hell, I'm looking for my vilkage and I'm loving my new chicks!

Welcome! I understand being nervous with your firsts, but relax! Enjoy the baby experience. They don't stay little very long. If they're happy and healthy, you're doing fine. Learning by experience is the best way, if you ask me. You'll find, especially on here, that everyone has their own tips, tricks, and tweaks that work for them. You'll come up with some in time too. Poultry keeping is hugely rewarding. And if you get stuck, there are plenty of folks on here to help! ;)

G’Day from down under Funnwonderland :frow Welcome and Congratulations! :clap

Deep breaths; you have got this! And, if you get in to trouble, we have your back!

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. These two might be of assistance at this stage:
Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks

If you have questions, there is a Raising Baby Chicks Forum; do not be afraid to post.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us :ya
Make sure your brooder has a warm area as well as a room temp area. You'll be able to see how they feel about the temps and they will likely be very active once they settle in.
