i went to the coup after my daughter had gotten on the buss..... there in one of the smaller pens, the floor was covered with dead chicks.....

i have several 11 by 11 pens, i had just put 30 chicks in one that was emty, they ranged in a age from 4 months to 6 weeks in age. They were from eggs i had ordered or my own hens. Every one of them dead, silkies, BLRWyandotts, orpingtons and EEs, even my secrete swap chicks were in there.

    not eaten
    not tore up
    just dead

Something had dug under 2 other pens that were empty that im redoing, to get to this one. It wasnt big and no tell tale footprints that i could find.

I'm so sorry, I would be devastated too. If they weren't torn up or anything, I would think it wouldn't be an animal. But please update if you find out anything.

My SIL has a fox terrier who went on a killing spree and killed all but 2 Guineas. He didn't eat them or tear them up . just crunched to kill. Wonder if it was a dog that got into your pens?

I think it was a small to medium size dog that dug under there to kill them. Aye im glad jordan didnt find them, she will be upset enough when she finds out her little silkies are gone.
