I have 4, 10 week old EEs. One of them is constantly picking at herself. There are lots of big white feathers on the run floor. I tried to look for something on her but...really? I cant even get to her skin! How do you look for the culprit? She also has a little red area just above her beak. Not sure if its related but maybe she was trying to scratch her face????

It could be mites - or some sort of alergic reaction (though I've never heard of that in a chicken).

You will never see the mites. They are too small.

7 dust works great for killing mites & is harmless to the chickens. Dust her with some & put it all over the run & inside the coop. The mites will hide in dark places in the coop - so if you just treat her they will move to another bird or come back later.

Do you have to get it under the feathers? If yes. How???
