It's a FOX - Advice needed.

Oh JoJo, this has me worried! DH has seen them in our yard close to the house which is close to the coop at 4am but you're seeing them during the day!!

I hope you can get off early and that lucks with you and you can get them shot!! Good to know what the games/park said cause we may get to that point too!!!

When we moved to the property there was a fox living in a den...near where we have our pony pasture now. He had mange and only lived a short time. About the time I had made up my mind to shoot him he was dead. We had our horses on the land before we built our house. This would have been about 7.5 years ago. That is the last time I've seen a fox. Three years ago I saw 3 coyotes in a nearby corn field that had been newly "cleaned" - all three were sick. Haven't seem a coyote since.

I'm going to contact a H. S. boy that traps over in Ponca Hills. He can come and trap it...and then come back and trap coons to his hearts content! I just read an article - that said that very often Fox - hunt in pairs...great news...isn't it...

Good luck! Good to know about the Game and Parks Commission. I just posted a thread about a fox out in broad daylight hanging around my coop. He got my green egg layer and 3 Embden Geese. He put the rest of them in shock. When I finally decided to get HIM, I never saw him again. He had mange too.

If you are interested in what people had to say about my fox here is the link. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=235185
Some
good information and most say to shoot it.

Hi Biddieacres,

I hope I get the chance! I'm so sorry to hear about your chicken and geese! That's a terrible loss. I've only lost one goose and I was sick about it for days...I still miss her.

Thanks for your input and the link...good luck to you - I hope your geese are doing better.

Come visit and sit here on my deck in the morning and evening...you will see at least 10 fox come through the yard...

For OP

Trap it and kill it...be done with it. They are in no way shape or form endangered. It is a pest when you have birds so be done with it.
