It's a wrap girls! I'm finished!

Today 12:10 pm Seriously, that's just showing off. I'm glad my chickens don't have the internet out in their "coop" yet. Sheesh.
Now I have to go out and cover mine with a tarp or something.

Looking at the great building job you've done, I've had yet ANOTHER inspiration for my yet-to-be-started coop project. I couldn't figure out how to give my birds some under-the-building run space, UNTIL I saw yours. Thanks! I'll link and reference this after I'm finished, and when I create my Webpage. Your coop building looks about as tall as the building I am restructuring--about 8 ft at the apex?--so I'm pretty sure this will work. Thanks for sharing!

The absolute hardest part of building the run is getting the foundation level. I did not dig post holes because of the hard clay soil, rocks and massive oak roots. We had about 6" of elevation change, and that required almost 2 cubic yards of fill dirt, concrete blocks and gravel to square things up. It sucked!

OK, now I want a second coop. We built our using an old shed and were limited by that. DH is getting a look at yours when he gets home and I am telling him I want one just like it. I love it!

Look hard at building with used materials. I am afraid to add up the receipts. I easily have 75 bucks worth of screws, fender washers and rafter ties in the run alone. I think it was 20 bucks a pop for each metal roof panel. Those are 10 footers. I bought those at Agri-Supply because Home Depot was even more expensive.

Sure this is a nice set-up, but I ain't bragging about how much money I spent at Home Depot. I think I got them through this recession!

I am stubborn, and we had a design in mind. It would have taken me forever to gather all re-cycled stuff. I did have a few things on hand (and bought the windows on Craig's list), but really not enough to off-set the cost.

Wow! What a great job on the coop. Your girls must me in 7th heaven!
