Well, this little one is smart. We have a stuffed ducky, the one all the chicks love and a mirror, the one that they always like to crowd around and snuggle with. This baby knows they are not real. It is running back and forth against the mirror trying to make contact with the baby in the mirror. It knows it should be able to touch that other chick and it can't. I've never seen one do that. They're usually satisfied to just lay in front of the mirror. And she's chirping her head off when she realizes she's alone. She's already eating and drinking, all on her own, no coaching. This one could be a girl. The headspot is small and her frame is petite, not even those big feet the cockerels usually have. She has lots of white underneath and on her face, very much like the Ameraucana side of her, and a pea comb.
Since she kicked her way out of that egg with pieces flying all over the bator after rocking her egg around for a day, reminding me of a little kung fu master, and there's a certain movie playing right now in theaters, I think I'll call her Panda after Kung Fu Panda. Fits with her black and white coloring, too. Now, let's cross our fingers that Panda is really a pullet!
