It's ALIVE! Kung Fu Chick! HATCHED! (PICS)

She's the cutest thing. These came from Ideal Poultry, so could be blue or self-blue (lavender) D'Uccle or Cochin. No beard, seems more Cochin-like to me, but the softest shade of powder-blue.

BTW, DH went to a yard sale that we saw on the way home from town after taking the little one to be settled into the brooder. He came home with an older 1602N Hovabator that was used a couple of times then stored away. It's not terribly dirty (DH is cleaning it now) and we can add a fan or just scavenge it for parts. Paid $15, I believe. It's the squarish one with the water channels built into it, about 7 yrs old, they said-first bator we've ever come across at a flea market or yard sale.

That would be the ultimate score of the day, D, you are so right! Ruby is doing much, much better, as is Rosemary. Not sure about Lorelei, but she's still alive and doing her thing. If my Zane could just stand on his own two legs, I'd be crying tears of joy.

Oh your cute little bantam will do just fine with the bigger ones. I have 3 cochin bantams, a gold seabright, and a buff brahma bantam in with my big chickens. They take care of themselves and don't get picked on. Actually they do the picking part of the time. She will be fine and you won't need a bantam coop.
