Hello and thank you for allowing us into the group. We just got 3 chicks this weekend for the first time ever owning any. We did our research on what was needed and how to start, but have a lot to learn. We ended up with 2, 3 week old Rhode Island Reds and a 3 month old Silkie. We only wanted 3 to start. The Silkie is pecking a little at the littlest Red, not too bad though, its sad to see anyway. Sensitive souls here...They are all eating and drinking well. THey are all in the garage in a hen house made for about 6. Is it ok to have these 3 of different ages together?

! Just make sure you monitor the pecking as that is quite an age difference. If it worsens you might have to isolate the Silkie until the youngsters catch up in size a little bit. I've heard Silkies are pretty gentle birds so maybe you'll be okay. Best of luck.

generally it is the silkies that get picked on because they are docile and their crests limit their sight. I agree with keeping the silkie apart for now, the others will be outgrowing her and the dynamics will change.
