Its day 21 and no signs ....

From my experience it takes a while after they pip. Pipping was a hard job then they rest for anywhere from 12 to 24 hours before they start to hatch. I have only had one chick that pipped and a few hours later was hatching! Be patient, I know it is hard but they usually rest for quite a while to build up the strength to zip the egg and hatch. Congrats on your late started hatch. I am sitting on a bunch of silkie eggs on day 22 that had a few low temps and still hoping for them to just be late to the party...

yes! someimes a long while 12 hours...exasperating. check out this pic\\

she had zipped and then stopped! I went to bed thinking that she would be all fluffy in the morning but she was still stuck there! I took her out and the shell was all dry so I misted her with wwarm water and picked off the shell.....right now, she is all fluffy in the incubator resting until she can join the sisters in the brooder....... I was SO scared!

Well what is day 26 this morning has brought us one chick out of its shell. At 0600 this morning we found the little fellow resting in the bottom of the bator about half dry and peeping up a storm. Thank God for the little things.

So far no other pips. So I want to propose a question. I have my bator in my son's bathroom and got to thinking. What if I turned on a hot shower, raised the humidity up in the bathroom, and when I pull this chick out candle the remaining eggs real fast to look for life. I could easily relocate the bator until I got the humidity cleared from the bathroom. Would it be possible to do so without damaging any other eggs in case there are more coming? I mean I want to but maybe I am just really really off on my hatch and everyone is going to be late to the party....or maybe only one guest is showing up this time.

Tell me your thoughts on the idea and again many thanks for all the responses.

Oh yeah...since this little guy made it and is the only one (so far) my 7 year old has decided its name will be Tuffy lol

See Amanda you have a Tuffy! Told you they take time some times.

The shower humidity it what some others do, so I don't think there would be a problem.

Good luck and congratulations!

Hopefully you'll get more.
