I had fun building it but now I wait for eggs. My birds were purchased at 6 months old (supposedly) and I have had them for 3 weeks but no eggs yet

Unfortunately, I cannot get them stop roosting in the nesting boxes. I tried sealing them off for a week, golf balls, etc. The pick shoes the roost low and I have moved it up higher then the nesting boxes but that did not work either. I guess I am going to have to live with poo eggs when they do come.

I built a PVC feeder with the knowledge gained from reading on this forum. Thanks for the help!!!

I think it's really nice.

My only question is if you will eventually reinforce the chicken wire with some stronger wire such as hardware cloth? There are a lot of stories around here about predators just ripping the chicken wire into shreds. Also, does that wire go underground or can something easily dig under it?

I think the chickens may be roosting in the nest boxes because they feel less exposed, warmer and safer in there (although I know you're in TX).

I don't know what ur talking about, that thing is nice!!! Apparently you haven't seen my setup....LOL!!!

One quick note: Are u gonna reinforce with something other than chicken wire??? A coon or other predator would slice through chicken wire like butter....

you did a fantastic job on that thing, well done!

I like your feeder, and have been thinking about building one of those. Is it working well for you, and is that 3" PVC you used?

I agree, what if you put a cover over the roosts? I wonder if that would encourage them to roost there.

Are u gonna reinforce with something other than chicken wire??? - I had not planned on it but enough people are saying I should so I am now thinking about it.

Is there wire above the door? - Yes, there is wire above the door

Also, does that wire go underground or can something easily dig under it? - I layed wire on the floor and attached it to the sides. If something tries to go under, it will be under the wire.

Is it working well for you, and is that 3" PVC you used? - I need to slant it a bit more. I used 4" with 2-45 degree elbows to give it a better "flow." It works well but as noted, a bit more slant and it will be perfect.

what if you put a cover over the roosts? - Good idea and easy too.
