To me that's so strange🤣 here we've started carrying our coats in case we need them instead of wearing them! I should say that this only applies to the warmer parts of Greece, the northern you go, the colder it gets, still nor overly cold though!

As the first spring tradition, I'd like to introduce you a very interesting Greek tradition! The March sun is believed to be especially harmful, so people (although its mostly for small children, but i find it fun) wear a red and white string bracelet to protect them from the evil rays of the sun. Traditionally, when March ends you cut the bracelet off and place it on a plant in your garden/balcony for the swallows to take and build nests with, so it's a way of saying thank you for the protection

But I feel like I cannot keep talking and being happy and about spring without mentioning the recent tragedy we experienced. Some time during the night two trains, one containing passengers, crashed. In this devastating collision, there have been around 35 deaths reported, with the number still increasing, many people have not yet been found, and many more are hospitalized. Most of the passengers were students. This is a devastating time for all Greeks, this particular route is very popular, so it literally could have been anyone. I want to keep this thread light hearted, but I just feel that it would dishonor all the people who lost their lives. Strength to each family that lost a loved one❤

I saw that on the news. Terrible. I'm so sad for those affected.

It truly is heartbreaking, all of us are speechless. We have a three day national mourning. We really need to do better, this could have been prevented, it's so tragic. The crash survivors were the ones helping eachother get out from the ruins, while being engulfed in fire and breathing in smoke

Holy cow! We just had blizzards for the last week! I'm taking a break from shoveling the driveway (which is 1/3 mile long). Spring???!? Where???
Lol!

I'm glad y'all are enjoying it, and I hope it gets here soon!

I'm sure spring will arrive shortly to you too, in the meantime you can enjoy everyone else's photos of spring weather and activities!
