It's finally spring!!!

Ugh, spring. Wish I could say I was loving the weather, but... Ankle deep mud, rain making more mud, the wind is crazy right now, my allergies are already kicking up, and did I mention MUD?! Hopefully it dries up soon so I can start actually enjoying the warmer weather! 😩

Well, mud is the first step to a beautiful flowering meadow!

This is what makes appreciate living in the high desert… no mud! We definitely have crazy wind too though…

A large part of my issue with the mud is that I was a kid when this coop was built and it was built in a bad location because I really didn't know better. Any time it rains more than just a little bit, water runs through the coop area and just makes a huge mess. 😩 It's been on my list for a while now to fix, but every year it gets pushed back for one reason or another. I guess this year I'll make it more of a priority.

(Though more than likely, once things dry up and I'm not wading through mud every day, it'll slip my mind again and be pushed back another year. )

Ah, don't be sad, Fluffycrow. It's a spring tradition at this point for me to whine about the mud and then do nothing about it. 🤣

Well in that case, if it truly is spring tradition, then yay welcome to spring

Planted out some cool weather starts. Red and green cabbage, purple and green sprouting broccoli, lettuces, kales, Swiss chard, brussels sprouts… I have cilantro in the garden and arugula. Strawberries leaves are starting to emerge and berry plants are showing signs of growth!

Starting my warm season plants to be transplanted out in June. Tomatoes, peppers, flowers, herbs… I direct sow melons, summer squash, and cucumbers. Waiting on some more seeds that I ordered (more tomatoes, lemon balm, bee balm, coneflowers, etc). I get all of my seeds from baker creek!

Yay welcome spring!

Ah, I've got to start thinking about my plants for the year, too! I do a container garden because, living in a woods, I don't really have anywhere close enough to plant in the ground that wouldn't require me to haul water all the way out to it. Thinking I might try some bush zucchini or other small squashes this year. I love squash :D

I've got three-ish pots of succulents blooming, one cactus, two haworthia and one echeveria, but not 100% on the last one. Good luck on your planting!
