im so excited and yeah there tiny especially the ones im hatching as there button quail eggs, so there really really small :D

theres a picture of some of the eggs with a 1p and a 2p

I'm hoping to be keeping the quails as pets, and if my hatch is successful i also have 2 freinds who would like to keep quail so if i manage to hatch my quail, i will be getting some further eggs to hatch for them both :D

im also gonna be trying to document each stage with the quail and putting it on youtube:

if your intrested take a look :)

Yes, I did the salt calibration. I have been reading this forum trying to determine what I was doing wrong. I'm in VA & it got down to 28 one night this week. My house temp has been up & down. I think my temps varied inside the incubator during the last 2 hatches. That's why I have a thermometer in every corner, and an aquarium therm in the middle this time. I'm trying my best to walk away from the incubator, and let it stabilize, but I find myself looking at it every few minutes. It's going to be a long 3 weeks!

I'm glad you found that calibration info...b/c I don't think i could.... I'm having a heck of a time going through everything here... It'll take time... I hope you figure it out... Since I put the eggs in this am...my temp has risen up a degree.... not good...gotta get er down... lol.
I always thought Styrofoam would hold it's temp...idk

wow...look how tiny they are... I'd be afraid of dropping them.... you must have steady hands. :) Thanks for the pic.

I just gave my broody Java 12 fertile Faverolle eggs. :)

I'm afraid to give eggs to my girls... they really have never gone into broody mode... They've gone into moulting, but that's about it... and they're old enough. i think they around 3 yrs old. Well 6 of them are. The others are just a yr.

I think it's the breed. My Javas are broody all summer long. The rest of my flock, not so much. My Orpington thought about it for a week then change her mind, but the Javas sit forever, adopt chicks that they didn't hatch and are great moms. Awesome mama birds. :) This will be Mama's first time with fertile eggs though, since I don't have a rooster I usually just give her day old babies after enough time has past.

I'd like to join if it's alright with y'all :)

Our only Cochin Zoey is sitting on a single egg... we're hoping for more though

Hopefully everything goes as planned and we'll have some Cochin X RIR X BR babies running around soon! We're probably going to switch her to the brooding coop today or tomorrow and hopefully I can get some pictures soon

I hope she has more than one egg too... i've read that one chick rarely makes it.... good luck...

Good morning all. Hope things are going well at your end. I seem to be having temp issues - was up at 100 degrees, then fell yesterday to 98 and stayed there. So I am nudging the thermostat, waiting a couple of hours, nudging it again. Still at 98 this morning. Now I've put one plug in (both plugs were out) and put a blankie over half the incubator while trying not to block any vent holes.

I should also note that, with shipped eggs inside, I decided to leave the turner off for at least three days, maybe four. What I've read suggests 7 days without turning, but I couldn't figure a way to turn only the non-shipped eggs with the automatic turner in the incubator. So 3 days is a sort of compromise. I'm hoping that won't affect the non-shipped eggs too badly. Any thoughts?

I set 42 eggs last night also, I don't know what will come of it as far as breed goes because I have a mixed flock. I have a rir and an ee roo, the hens are rir, new hampshire red, br, ee, white rock, so who knows how colorful they will be! :), good luck all!
